HOW TO PLANT
STEP 1: Plant seeds
To grow blueberries, use acidic, well-drained soil (pH 4.5–5.5). If using seeds, cold-stratify them in a moist paper towel in the fridge for 6–8 weeks. After that, sow in small pots and keep in a warm, bright place. Seeds germinate in 3–4 weeks. When seedlings have 2–3 true leaves, transplant to larger pots or into the garden. Add compost or organic fertilizer to support root and plant growth.
Step 3: Watering and care
Blueberry plants usually begin flowering after 1–2 weeks , depending on the variety and growing conditions. Small white or pinkish flowers will appear, followed by green berries that gradually turn blue as they ripen. Harvest blueberries when they are fully blue, plump, and easily detach from the stem. Picking is best done in the morning when the fruits are cool and firm. Each plant can produce fruit for many years with proper care.
Step 2: Plant seeds
When blueberry seedlings have 2–3 true leaves, transplant them into larger pots or garden beds, spacing each plant about 80–100 cm apart to allow proper root and bush growth. At this stage, mix compost, pine bark, or coconut coir into the soil to improve aeration and acidity. You can also apply a diluted organic fertilizer (such as seaweed extract or fish emulsion) every 2–3 weeks to promote strong and healthy growth.
