HOW TO PLANT

Step 1: Sow seeds
Soak the watermelon seeds in clean water for 4 to 6 hours, then incubate them for 10 to 12 hours until they sprout. Sow the seeds directly into well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. After about 7–10 days, the seedlings will emerge with 2–3 true leaves. At this stage, apply organic fertilizer or compost to promote strong vine growth and future fruit development.
Step 2: Plant seeds
When watermelon seedlings have 2–3 true leaves, transplant them or thin the plants to keep a spacing of about 50–70cm for proper vine growth. At this stage, enrich the soil with compost, rice husk ash, or worm castings. You can also apply a diluted solution of urea in the late afternoon to boost growth and support healthy vine development.
Step 3: Watering and care
When the watermelon vines are about 80–100 cm long, flowers will start to bloom and fruits will begin to form. Harvest the watermelons when the fruits have developed clear stripes, the tendril near the fruit dries up, and the skin color turns slightly dull. Each plant can yield multiple fruits per season.
